PTA's letter to parents for Teachers' Day and Mid-Autumn Celebration

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Warm greetings from the Nanyang Primary School Parent-Teacher Association (NYPS-PTA)!

Teachers' Day celebrations

Every year, NYPS-PTA commemorates Teachers' Day in recognition of the dedication and hard work of our teachers and school staff. To show our appreciation, NYPS PTA will host a Teachers' Day lunch celebration on Wednesday, 31 August 2016 at 2pm in the school. 280 Teachers and staff will be treated to a sumptuous buffet spread and receive a door gift.

Parents who wish to thank the teachers and staff may contribute in the following ways:

Monetary Contribution

Your contributions will enable us to make the celebration so much more special. Please make your cheque payable to Nanyang Primary School Parent-Teacher Association. On the back of the cheque, please indicate "Teachers' Day Celebration", as well as your child's name, class, and your contact number. Please place the cheque in the PTA letterbox in the General Office by Friday, 26 August 2015.

Food Contribution

Parents may also choose to contribute the following desserts for the celebration:

  • Kueh salat
  • Ang ku kueh
  • Kueh dadar
  • Kueh lapis
  • Mini egg tart
  • Marble cake
  • Fruits (any sort of berries)

The food items should be delivered to the Meeting Point in the school between 10am to 12pm, on Wednesday 31 August 2016. Parent Volunteers will be there to receive the food.

Please fill in the form at http://www.123contactform.com/form-2130399/Teachers-Day-Lunch-2016 to let us know the dessert that you wish to donate or if you can help out during the event.

Mid-Autumn Festival

NYPS will be celebrating this year's Mid-Autumn Festival with a mini carnival consisting of stalls that showcase heritage food and games that we played during our growing up years. A trip down memory lane with the children. A great evening to bond with your children and teach them the simple pleasures in life without technology. It will be held in school on Friday 16 September 2016 from 6-9pm.

We will need the following volunteers:

  • for preparing mooncakes, snacks and tea (from 3-6pm)
  • for serving mooncakes and tea (from 6-9pm)
  • to explain and demonstrate at the games stalls (from 6-9pm)

You can bring your child(ren) with you, and if they would like to help out, they may be eligible for CIP points.

If you would like to volunteer from 3-6pm, please fill in the form at https://www.memberplanet.com/events/nyps-pta/midautumnfestivalparentvolunteerslot1

If you would like to volunteer from 6-9pm, please fill in the form at https://www.memberplanet.com/events/nyps-pta/midautumnfestivalparentvolunteerslot2

Info to Parents: Drop-Off Zones within KRC during Rainy Days

Dear Parents/Gaurdians,

The school will open our covered car park to facilitate the traffic flow of morning arrivals at KRC during rainy days. This is an additional drop-off zone other than the 2 zones located at the covered link walk and at the Meeting Point.

Please see the attached plan on the 3 drop-off zones within KRC during rainy days.

We would like to highlight the control of traffic flow during rainy days as following:

a. Vehicles entering Gate A will first be directed to the Meeting Point for drop-off.

b. When the car queue at the Meeting Point has reached the zebra crossing, vehicles will then be directed into the covered car park for drop-off.

c. When the queue of vehicles inside the covered car park has extended out onto the driveway, parents could then drop-off their child along the covered link walk.

d. Vehicles which have already done the drop-off at the covered link walk are requested to switch on their right signal light, so that our staff on duty at the car park entrance will direct you to exit the school.

We will deploy more staff on duty to assist your child alighting at the 3 drop-off zones.  We seek your co-operation and follow the instruction of our staff when they direct you to either one of the zones to drop-off your child.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership to make NYPS a safe environment for our children.

Mr William Woo
Operations Manager

Racial Harmony Day 18/07/2016

Dear Parents,

We will be commemorating Racial Harmony Day on Monday 18 July 2016.
Pupils are encouraged to come dressed in ethnic costumes to commemorate Racial Harmony Day.
A series of exciting activities have been lined up for pupils to deepen their understanding of racial harmony in Singapore.
We would like all P1 and P2 pupils to bring their colour pencils and P3 to P6 pupils to being their scissors, glue and stapler on that day.

Thank you!
